Property Claims Manager



Highly profitable insurance carrier has retained The Carlisle Group seeking to hire a talented Personal Property Claims Manager. Due to growth, the company is transitioning their claims function from an external vendor model to an in-house model. The selected Claims Manager will be a critical component to ensuring this transition is successful for the company and its policyholders.



This role will have direct outside field adjusting responsibilities initially (2 to 3 year timeline estimate), but as premium growth continues the role will eventually be responsible for hiring, training, and mentoring staff. This highly unique ?working manager? role will have direct impact in shaping the culture, best practices, and effectiveness of the client?s claims organization.



Duties & Responsibilities:


Performs various duties to effect a fair and equitable settlement of all losses as illustrated by the following:




  • Investigates and concludes claims involving loss of property, structure damage, legal liability, and other potential loss under company policies.


  • Directly responsible for managing the claim from initiation to closure including, but not limited, to approximately 70% out of office field adjusting.


  • Denies claim or settles loss within delegated settlement authority limits and presents recommendations for settlement of losses exceeding authority.


  • Prepares reports, denial letters, and other materials necessary for a properly documented claim file; enters necessary information into the system; review loss reserves and makes appropriate recommendations to senior management.


  • Assigns selected claim investigations to independent adjusters and monitors their handling and settlement of loss through conferences and review of claims reports.


  • Coordinates assignment of claim investigations by agencies representing the company outside of the local area.


  • Obtains written or audio statements of loss occurrence from insureds, claimants, and witnesses when appropriate.


  • Communicates effectively with attorneys, claimants, insureds, witnesses, law enforcement, fire department personnel, and others as needed to properly investigate a claim.


  • Develop, update and recommend appropriate claims procedures.


  • Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.


  • Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work place.


  • Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to and compliance with all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness, as well as external regulations.


  • Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate personnel.


  • Responds to inquiries relating to a particular area, or to requests from agents, other personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
